Chhattisgarh Weather: Heavy Rain Likely Until August 14, Lightning Warning Issued

Chhattisgarh is likely to experience an extended spell of monsoon rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rain at isolated places between August 10 and 14.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in the state from August 10 to 12.
The warning comes after rain was observed at most places in Chhattisgarh during the preceding observation period.
Widespread Rain Forecast
The IMD expects fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across Chhattisgarh on August 10.
Rain distribution may temporarily decrease on August 11, when isolated to scattered showers are expected. Rainfall activity is forecast to increase again from August 12, with fairly widespread to widespread rain continuing until August 15.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places on August 10, 13 and 14. The broader forecast indicates that isolated heavy rain could affect the state throughout the August 10–14 period, even where rain distribution varies from one day to another.
Low-Pressure System Influencing Central India
The low-pressure area previously situated over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh had moved over northern Madhya Pradesh by Monday morning.
However, its associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The active monsoon trough and moisture flow around the system are continuing to influence weather conditions over Chhattisgarh.
This means some districts may receive brief but intense rain even when neighbouring areas record only light or moderate showers.
Lightning Remains a Major Risk
The IMD has specifically warned of thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Chhattisgarh until August 12.
People working in agricultural fields or open areas should move indoors immediately after hearing thunder. Trees, electricity poles, metal structures and water bodies should be avoided during a lightning event.
Possibility of Localised Waterlogging
Heavy spells could cause waterlogging in urban areas, overflowing drains and a rise in the water level of smaller rivers and streams.
Drivers should avoid attempting to cross submerged roads or bridges. Residents of low-lying areas should follow district-administration advisories, particularly if rain continues for several hours.
Farmers should secure harvested produce and postpone spraying, fertiliser application and other outdoor operations during thunderstorms.
The forecast may be revised as the system moves, making district-level nowcasts important for travel and agricultural decisions.
