Passenger Trains to Skip Jagdalpur Today: Safety Work Underway on KK Rail Line, Koraput to Serve as Last Stop
Digital Desk
Passenger train services to Jagdalpur will remain suspended today due to ongoing safety-related work on the Kirandul–Kottavalasa (KK) railway line between Jagdalpur and Kumhar Sadra. As a result, Koraput station in Odisha will function as the final stop for all passenger trains. Services beyond Koraput, toward Jagdalpur and Dantewada, have been cancelled for the day.
According to the Waltair Railway Division, the Kirandul–Visakhapatnam passenger train will depart from Koraput today instead of its usual starting point. Similarly, the Rourkela–Jagdalpur Intercity, Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Express and Hirakhand Express will operate only up to Koraput before returning toward their respective destinations.
Freight Movement to Continue Unaffected
Railway officials confirmed that operations for goods trains will remain uninterrupted. The Kirandul–Visakhapatnam passenger service will also run only up to Koraput on December 13 and 15, when additional work is scheduled in the Araku–Similiguda section.
Despite the temporary suspension of passenger services, freight trains will continue to run daily. More than 30 iron ore rakes both inbound and outbound transport raw ore from NMDC’s Kirandul and Bacheli mines to Visakhapatnam every day.
