The proposed 'Wholesale Corridor' project in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar has been put on hold for the time being. The wholesale corridor project prepared during the tenure of the previous government has been cancelled. Now a new project will be prepared for the construction of the wholesale corridor. It was decided to develop a wholesale corridor to promote settlement, investment and commercial activities in Nava Raipur. Earlier, 1083 acres of land was identified in Nava Raipur for the 'Wholesale Corridor' and its land use had been changed. There was a plan to make the 'Wholesale Corridor' the largest wholesale commercial market in South Asia and the country. A proposal was prepared by the previous government to allot land plots to businessmen at Rs 540 per square feet in the Wholesale Corridor and to spend additional amount by the state government in its construction.
It has been told that the current BJP government does not agree with this decision of the previous government and the process of allotment of land has also been cancelled. There is a provision for allotment of land in Nava Raipur through auction by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran. While the rate of land plots was fixed for the wholesale corridor.
The work of construction of roads, drains, electricity, drinking water and other infrastructure is also being started in Nava Raipur area by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran. The tender process for construction of various infrastructure at a cost of about Rs 100 crore has been completed. Out of this, Rs 30 crore will be spent on road construction. The remaining amount will be spent on developing other basic facilities including drains, electricity, drinking water.
