Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, has opened the application process for admission to its PhD programmes for the academic session 2026. Applications have been invited from candidates who are eligible for exemption from the PhD entrance examination. The application window began on February 6 and will close on February 20.
Eligible candidates are required to submit their applications in the prescribed format to the concerned university teaching department or college-based research centre related to their subject. Applications can be submitted offline in person or sent by post to the respective research centre, provided they reach on or before the last date. Applications received after February 20 will not be considered.
The list of recognised research centres is available on the university’s official website. The application form has also been uploaded online and can be downloaded by applicants.
Colleges to forward applications by February 25
PRSU has instructed all college-based research centres to scrutinise the received applications and forward them to the university headquarters by February 25. The university has emphasised adherence to the timeline to ensure timely processing of admissions.
Applications invited in 36 subjects
The university has invited PhD applications in 36 disciplines. These include Hindi, English, Linguistics, Sanskrit, Library and Information Science, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Public Administration, History, Ancient Indian History, Psychology, Home Science, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Geology.
Other subjects include Mathematics, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, Zoology, Biosciences, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Anthropology, Physical Education, Pharmacy, Management, Commerce, Law, Education and Regional Studies.
Subjects without guides removed from list
PRSU clarified that only those subjects in which approved research guides are currently available have been included. The university had sought details from all research centres regarding subjects lacking eligible supervisors. Subjects without available guides have been excluded from the application list to ensure academic feasibility.
Doctoral Research Committees (DRCs) have been directed to evaluate applications promptly and call eligible candidates for interviews.
Interdisciplinary research in Regional Studies
Under the Regional Studies programme, candidates from disciplines such as Psychology, Economics, Management, Sociology, Geography, Education and Hindi, among others, will be eligible to pursue interdisciplinary research. In such cases, a regular faculty member from the candidate’s parent subject will act as the research supervisor, while the head of the Regional Studies and Research Centre will serve as co-supervisor.
The university said the initiative aims to streamline doctoral admissions while maintaining academic standards and supervisory support.
