Raigarh Civic Body to Launch ‘Johar Raigarh’ App, Enabling Online Tax Payments and Instant Grievance Redressal

Residents of Raigarh will soon be able to pay municipal taxes and access key civic services from their homes as the Raigarh Municipal Corporation prepares to launch the “Johar Raigarh” mobile application. The digital platform, expected to go live in the first week of February, aims to streamline citizen services and reduce the need for in-person visits to municipal offices.

The initiative, introduced by the Raigarh Municipal Corporation, is part of a broader push to digitise urban governance in Chhattisgarh. Once launched, the app will allow users to pay property tax, water tax, shop rent and building permission fees online. Citizens will also be able to apply for birth and death certificates, request new water connections and make bookings for box cricket and badminton facilities through the platform.

According to civic officials, the app has been designed to serve as a single-window system for municipal services. In addition to payments and applications, residents can lodge complaints related to electricity, water supply, sanitation, encroachment and other civic issues. Each complaint will be routed electronically to the concerned department, enabling faster response and accountability.

Revenue Officer Pradeep Mishra said the app would significantly ease access to services for city residents. “The Johar Raigarh app is an online municipal service platform that offers both convenience and timely resolution. Citizens will be able to submit service requests and complaints from their mobile phones, and the concerned officers will receive instant notifications for action,” he said.

The app will be available for download on the Google Play Store. Users will need to install it on their smartphones and select the relevant service category to make payments or register complaints. A parallel web portal, digiraigarh.in, will also provide access to the same services for users who prefer desktop-based transactions.

Municipal officials said the system has been structured to ensure transparency in service delivery. Once a request or complaint is submitted, its status can be tracked digitally until resolution. The move is expected to reduce administrative delays and improve communication between citizens and the civic body.

The launch comes amid increasing demand for digital public services, particularly in mid-sized cities where residents often face delays due to manual processes. Officials believe the app will not only save time for citizens but also help the corporation improve efficiency and revenue collection.

With the rollout of the Johar Raigarh app, the municipal corporation hopes to set a model for technology-driven governance, offering residents quicker access to services while minimising paperwork and physical visits to government offices.
