Two New Security Camps Open in Sukma to Boost Naxal Eradication

Sukma sees the inauguration of two new security camps, aiming to strengthen Naxal eradication efforts and ensure villagers benefit from government schemes.

The government has set a goal of eliminating Naxalism by March 2026. New security camps are being opened in Bastar to accelerate the Naxalite eradication campaign and provide rural areas with the benefits of government schemes. The police administration has also established two new security camps in the highly Naxal-affected villages of Palaguda and Gundrajgudem in Sukma district. These camps were opened to benefit the villagers of the area under the Chhattisgarh government's "Niyad Nella Nar" scheme. It should be noted that since 2024, security forces have established a total of 18 new camps in Sukma district.

Despite heavy monsoons and difficult geographical conditions, security forces have bravely established camps in both villages simultaneously in the Maoist core zone. This will directly connect the Silger-Almagunda axis. The establishment of security camps will strengthen the security environment in the area. Villagers will have the opportunity to directly benefit from development and public welfare schemes. This step is a major strategic success against the Maoists.

The establishment of new security camps has accelerated the Naxal eradication process, resulting in 518 Naxalites abandoning the Naxal ideology and surrendering since 2024. Security forces have killed 64 Maoists and arrested 451 others in various operations.

To accelerate the anti-Naxal campaign and developmental work in remote areas of Sukma district, two security camps have been established under the "Niyad Nella Naar" scheme run by the Chhattisgarh government under the guidance of Sundarraj P., Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Kamalochan Kashyap, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dantewada Range, Anand Singh Rajpurohit, Deputy Inspector General (Operations), CRPF Range, Sukma, and under the direction and supervision of Kiran Chavan, Superintendent of Police, Sukma District, Rakesh Chandra Shukla, Commandant, 150 Battalion CRPF, Kamlesh Kumar, Commandant, 2 Battalion CRPF, Amit Chaudhary, Commandant, 201 Cobra, Pawan Kumar Singh, Commandant, 203 Cobra, and Rohit Shah, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sukma.

The establishment of these new camps will curb the inter-district activities of Maoists in the region and accelerate anti-Naxal operations. Villagers living in the surrounding areas will benefit from the ongoing security measures. Developmental works and basic amenities like road, bridge/culvert construction, electricity, water, health facilities, PDS shops, good education, expansion of mobile connectivity etc. will be available. The general public of the area is excited with the establishment of new security camps.

It should be noted that from the year 2024 till now, under the "Niyad Nella Naar" scheme, a total of 18 new security camps have been established in Sukma district at Tekalgudem, Puvarti, Mukrajkonda, Duled, Pulanpad, Lakhapal, Tumalpad, Raigudem, Golakonda, Gomguda, Metagudem, Uskavaya Nulkatong, Tumalbhatti Veeragangaler, Maita, Palaguda, Gundarajgundem.
