Government Ayurvedic colleges in Madhya Pradesh will now share techniques for developing herbal gardens in schools and colleges. The aim of this initiative is to plant medicinal plants in as many educational institutions as possible and educate the new generation about their importance. During this initiative by the Union Ministry of AYUSH, experts will visit schools to explain which medicinal plants can be grown at home and how to care for them.
In Bhopal, the Government Pandit Khushilal Sharma Ayurvedic College has taken up this responsibility. A team of experts from the college is visiting schools and colleges to teach students how to plant and maintain plants like Tulsi, Giloy, Ashwagandha, Aloe Vera, and Shatavari in the herbal garden. They are also explaining the plants' usefulness and medicinal properties. Teachers are also being trained.
The institute is also organizing Ayurvedic kitchen workshops, teaching students how to prepare nutritious and healthy dishes. Experts say that by understanding the importance of natural food and medicinal plants from an early age, children will be able to incorporate them into their lifestyles.
Medicinal Plants are the Foundation of Life
Dr. Anjali Jain, head of the hospital's Department of Pharmacy, explained that the herbal garden provides students with hands-on experience beyond textbooks. When children plant and care for these plants, they understand the deep connection between nature and health.
