AIIMS Bhopal’s Dr. Priti Singh Wins 2 Awards for Eye Research at MPSOS Conference

Dr. Priti Singh, Additional Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Bhopal, has brought accolades to the institute for her outstanding contributions in eye research. She was honored with two awards at the 48th Annual Conference of the Madhya Pradesh State Ophthalmic Society (MPSOS), held in Gwalior from October 3–5, 2025.

Award for Glaucoma Research
Dr. Singh received the Late Dr. Tanuja Kate Memorial Award for Best Paper in Glaucoma for her study titled “Glaucoma Mimickers: Diagnostic Challenges in Resource-Limited Settings.” The research highlighted the high prevalence of non-glaucomatous optic neuropathies often misdiagnosed as glaucoma. She emphasized how limited access to advanced diagnostic tools can delay or complicate treatment. To address this, she proposed structured diagnostic protocols integrating Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), visual-field analysis, and neuro-imaging to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care.

Recognition in Neuro-Ophthalmology
Dr. Singh also received the Dr. Ramesh Krishna Memorial Award for Best Physical Poster for her research in neuro-ophthalmology. The study, based on a rare case recently published in BMJ Case Reports, underscored the importance of detailed neuro-imaging and interdisciplinary evaluation in diagnosing optic-pathway disorders. Her work demonstrated how complex neurological conditions can present with ocular symptoms, highlighting the need for collaboration between ophthalmologists, neurologists, and radiologists to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
