Power Dept Recruitment Under HC Scanner: 2000+ Jobs on Hold

In a major development, the High Court has issued a notice to the state government and energy department regarding the recruitment process in power distribution companies. With over 2000 appointments now subject to judicial review, the future of these recruitments hinges on the court’s upcoming decision.

The High Court has issued an interim order on the recruitment of power distribution companies. Direct recruitment to 2000 posts in power distribution companies has been kept subject to its decision. The court has issued notice to the state government, energy department and other parties in this matter and sought a reply.

Let us tell you that Madhya Pradesh West Power Distribution Company Limited Indore had issued an advertisement for the recruitment of more than two thousand posts of all the power companies and transmission companies of the state on 9 December 2024. In which online examination was conducted on 21 March 2025 for the candidates to make regular appointments on more than two thousand posts of Assistant Law Officers, Assistant Managers, Plant Assistants including 818 posts of Office Assistant.

A complaint regarding this was also made to the examination agency. But no solution was found. In this regard, Sagar resident Arpit Sahu, Sehore resident Ajay Keer and Himanshu Sahu paid the prescribed fee for correction in the answers to the questions and filed an online objection with evidence. But the recruitment agency did not correct any mistake. When the examination agency did not find any solution, the candidates approached the court.

The High Court's division bench of Justice Vivek Jain heard the matter. The court has issued notice to the non-applicant Principal Secretary Energy Department Vallabh Bhawan Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh West Region Electricity Distribution Company Indore and CEO of MP Online and has sought a reply within four weeks. Also, all the said recruitment has been put pending the final decision of the petition.
