Rewa Hunger Strike Site Tense Overnight: Protesters Allege Suspicious Movement, Police Begin Verification

A protest site in Rewa witnessed tension late Tuesday night after people sitting at the hunger strike alleged suspicious movement of vehicles and unidentified persons around the area. Police said they would investigate the complaints.

 Tension prevailed at the hunger strike site near Sirmour Square in Rewa late Tuesday night after protesters alleged that unidentified people and vehicles were repeatedly moving around the area, creating a sense of fear among those participating in the agitation.The hunger strike has been organised by the father of Kalpana Mishra. People present at the protest site claimed that some vehicles and individuals were seen near the location during the night and alleged that their activities appeared suspicious.Some protesters also claimed to have recorded the movement of certain vehicles on their mobile phones.

Allegation of misbehaviour with protester

During the night, an allegation of misbehaviour with Anil Singh, an activist associated with the Jantar Mantar protest movement in Delhi, also surfaced.A video of the incident was reportedly recorded by people present at the site. According to protesters, an unidentified person reached the location and allegedly argued with people who were sleeping at the protest site.The incident reportedly led to a brief tense situation, following which police were informed.

Crowd gathered after social media discussion

The situation intensified after discussions circulated on social media about the possibility of people being removed from the protest site.Following these discussions, more people reached the hunger strike location late at night. Protesters said they gathered to support those sitting on the strike and ensure security at the spot.

Protesters raise security concerns

People present at the location alleged that the movement of unknown persons and vehicles created an atmosphere of insecurity.Rajiv Tiwari, who was present at the protest site, alleged that some individuals and vehicles were moving around the area throughout the night and that their activities appeared unusual.Another person present at the site, Pramod Sharma, also claimed that the movement of suspicious vehicles created concern among protesters.These allegations have not been independently verified.

Police assure investigation

Police officials said patrolling was continuing in the area and security arrangements were being maintained.Police personnel present during night patrolling said that if any complaint regarding suspicious persons or vehicles is received, their identity and activities will be verified.Authorities said monitoring has been increased in the area to prevent any untoward incident. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
