Sehore Accident: Woman Sub-Inspector’s Thar Mows Down 4 on Indore–Bhopal Highway, One Dead; SI Suspended After FIR

A speeding Thar driven by a woman sub-inspector hit four people in Sehore, killing one and injuring three others. The SI was suspended after an FIR was registered. Watch details of the incident, video, and police action.

In a shocking road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district, a speeding Thar SUV driven by a woman sub-inspector hit four people on Friday evening, killing one and leaving three others seriously injured. The incident took place near the Bilkisganj intersection on the busy Indore–Bhopal Highway and has triggered widespread outrage after a video of the aftermath surfaced on social media.

According to eyewitnesses, the Thar, driven by Sub-Inspector Kiran Rajput, was travelling from Ashta towards Bhopal when it first hit blanket vendors sitting by the roadside. The vehicle then rammed into two motorcyclists, throwing them onto the road. The impact caused severe damage to the motorcycle and led to losses for the roadside vendors as well.

Soon after the accident, a large crowd gathered at the spot and surrounded the SUV, preventing it from moving further. In a video that emerged on Saturday morning, the woman SI can be heard pleading with the people, saying, “Let me go, my mother and father are waiting in Bhopal.” However, locals insisted that she take responsibility and ensure that the injured were rushed to the hospital immediately.

Due to the tense situation, it took nearly an hour for Dial-112 police personnel to reach the spot. After their arrival, the injured were taken to hospitals in Bhopal in critical condition.

Those injured included Ujjain residents Vakil (28) and Lakhan (16), who were selling blankets by the roadside, and Bhopal residents Hridesh Rajoria (40) and his relative Vijay Sharma (46), who were riding the motorcycle. During treatment in Bhopal, Vijay Sharma succumbed to his injuries, while the other three continue to battle for life.

The incident has raised serious questions about rash driving and accountability, especially when it involves law enforcement personnel. Following the accident, police authorities acted swiftly. CSP Dr. Abhinandana Sharma confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Sub-Inspector Kiran Rajput, stating that negligence was clearly established in the case.

Taking a strict view of the matter, Sehore Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Shukla immediately suspended the woman SI for gross negligence and misconduct. She has been attached to the Reserve Centre in Sehore, and the preliminary investigation has been handed over to the City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sehore to ensure a fair and transparent probe.

The incident has sparked anger among locals and on social media, with many demanding strict punishment and equal application of the law. As the investigation continues, authorities have assured that no leniency will be shown and that justice will be delivered to the victims and their families.
