The incident, reported from the City Kotwali police station area, involves a man who allegedly deceived a young woman into a relationship and continued to exploit and blackmail her for nearly one and a half years.
How the Relationship Began
According to police sources, the victim and the accused, identified as Karan Khatik, met during a religious event where both participated in role-playing activities. Their interaction gradually turned into frequent communication, eventually leading to a relationship. The accused reportedly assured the woman that he would marry her, gaining her trust.
Exploitation and Blackmail Allegations
The victim has alleged that the accused used the promise of marriage to establish a physical relationship and continued to sexually exploit her over an extended period of time. During this phase, he also allegedly blackmailed her, forcing her to remain silent and continue the relationship against her will.
Truth About the Accused Revealed
During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused was already married, and his wife resides in Mumbai. Despite this, he was allegedly planning to marry the victim in Rewa, keeping her unaware of his marital status. This revelation became a turning point in the case.
Police Action and Arrest
After the victim approached the City Kotwali police station and filed a complaint, the police promptly registered an FIR and initiated action. The accused was arrested shortly after and presented before the court. He has now been sent to judicial custody while further investigation continues.
