A domestic dispute in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa escalated into a public confrontation after a woman allegedly caught her husband with another woman at a hotel and assaulted him. A video of the incident, showing the wife slapping her husband and confronting both him and the young woman, has since gone viral on social media.

The incident took place at a hotel near the New Bus Stand area on Sunday. According to police, the husband and the woman accompanying him were taken to the Civil Lines police station following the altercation. Authorities said further action will be taken based on the complaint and findings of the investigation.

Wife Reached Hotel After Receiving Information

According to the woman, identified as Ranu Pandey, she received information from a friend that her husband, Prakash Singh Chauhan, was staying at a hotel with another woman. Acting on the tip-off, she reached the hotel and searched for him before locating Room No. 108.

After repeatedly knocking on the door, it was eventually opened. The woman claimed she found her husband inside the room with another woman, triggering a heated confrontation.

Altercation Captured on Camera

Videos circulating online show the woman entering the room immediately after the door was opened and slapping her husband multiple times. She is also seen questioning him about whether he had legally divorced her before staying with another woman.

The accompanying woman reportedly claimed that Prakash had told her he was unmarried. During the confrontation, she questioned the wife's identity, while the wife asserted that she was legally married to him.

Prakash initially claimed that he had been brought to the hotel against his will, a statement that was disputed during the altercation.

Marriage Solemnised Last Year

According to Ranu Pandey, the couple, residents of Sidhi district, had entered into a court marriage on July 3, 2025. She alleged that her husband had been distancing himself from her for the past several months and had been secretly involved in another relationship.

She further stated that if he intended to end the marriage, he should have sought a legal divorce instead of maintaining another relationship.

Husband Expresses Desire to End Marriage

During the dispute, Prakash Singh Chauhan reportedly stated that he wanted to separate from his wife and begin a new life with his current partner. He allegedly told his wife that marrying her had been the biggest mistake of his life and expressed his desire to seek a divorce.

The exchange further intensified the argument, following which the wife escorted him out of the hotel and took him to the police station in an auto-rickshaw.

Questions Over Hotel Registration

According to reports, the hotel room had been booked under the name Akash Singh Chauhan. It is also alleged that a forged Aadhaar card with a modified surname was submitted for the woman's entry into the hotel. Police are expected to verify these claims as part of their investigation.

Police Await Formal Complaint

Civil Lines Police Station in-charge Vijay Singh said police received information about the dispute at the hotel and brought both parties to the police station.

He said a detailed inquiry is underway and appropriate legal action will be initiated based on the complaints received and evidence collected during the investigation.

The incident has once again highlighted the legal and personal complexities surrounding matrimonial disputes, with police urging both parties to pursue available legal remedies rather than taking matters into their own hands.
