Vyapam Scam: Charges to Be Framed Against 122 Accused
Bhopal,M.P
The CBI court has expedited the hearing in the MP Vyapam fraud case, where charges will be framed against 122 accused.
The hearing process has now accelerated in the much-discussed Vyapam fraud 2013 case of Madhya Pradesh. In this case, a challan was presented in the CBI court on July 3, in which preparations are being made to frame charges against 122 accused. The case came to light in 2013, when an FIR was registered in Jhansi Road police station in Gwalior regarding the Vyapam scam. In this scam, serious allegations like large-scale rigging in entrance examinations, inclusion of fake candidates, and manipulation of documents were made.
In view of the seriousness of the case, in 2015, the Supreme Court handed over its investigation to the CBI. After a long investigation, the CBI filed the first chargesheet in 2020, in which charges were registered under criminal conspiracy, fraud and other serious sections. Now the hearing of this case has been transferred from the CBI's Magistrate Court to the Sessions Court, as the sections added in the recent chargesheet are outside the jurisdiction of the Magistrate Court.
The 122 surviving accused include the son of an MLA, medical college students, middlemen, and government officials and employees. They are accused of fraudulently getting admissions and government jobs for many people. A total of 130 people were made accused in this case, out of which 8 have died.
