A shocking case of assault and illegal confinement has surfaced from Bhopal’s Hanumanganj area, where a young man was allegedly held captive and brutally beaten for over 12 hours by local scrap dealers. The incident occurred on Tuesday but came to light in the early hours of Wednesday after the victim managed to escape and approached the Hanumanganj police station.

Victim Escapes, Files Complaint at Midnight

According to Hanumanganj Police Station In-Charge (TI) Awadhesh Singh Bhadoria, the victim, identified as Shoaib, reached the police station around 2 AM on Wednesday. In his complaint, Shoaib alleged that he was wrongfully confined in a room by a scrap dealer known as Bhaiyya Kabadi and assaulted with pipes, sticks, and belts. He claimed he was also denied food and water during the ordeal.

Serious Injuries Confirmed

Police said Shoaib was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, where medical examinations, including X-rays, confirmed multiple injuries across his body. “The victim has sustained serious wounds and is under medical care,” officials stated.

FIR Registered, Accused on the Run

Based on Shoaib’s complaint, an FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, none of the accused have been arrested so far. The police are currently examining CCTV footage and collecting eyewitness statements to strengthen the case.

TI Bhadoria assured swift action, stating: “Regardless of any theft suspicion, no one has the right to inflict such brutality. A case has been registered, and the accused will be apprehended soon.”
