Bhojpuri Actress Akshara Singh Summoned by Court in Fraud Case

Begusarai, Bihar: Popular Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh and her husband Vipin Singh have found themselves embroiled in legal trouble once again. A complaint of fraud was recently filed against the couple in the Begusarai district court, which has now issued summons directing them to appear in court soon.

Linked to a Durga Puja Event in 2023

The controversy stems from an event held in October 2023 in a village near Samastipur, Bihar, during Durga Puja celebrations. Akshara and her husband were reportedly invited to perform at a cultural event and were paid a hefty fee of ₹5.51 lakh. However, the organizers claim that the couple failed to fulfill their performance commitments.

Performance Cut Short After Audience Tosses Currency Notes

According to the complainant, Shivesh Mishra, the actress abruptly ended her performance when members of the audience began throwing currency notes toward the stage—a gesture often considered celebratory in local traditions. Allegedly upset, Akshara not only stopped singing but also threw the microphone and walked off stage, despite repeated requests from the organizers to continue.

Akshara was reportedly contracted to perform for three hours but left after just 30 minutes. The abrupt exit caused significant chaos and financial losses for the event organizers.

Serious Charges Filed

The case, filed under complaint number 2006/2023 in Begusarai court, invokes several serious sections of the Indian Penal Code—namely Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 427 (mischief causing damage), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation). These charges reflect allegations of fraud, misappropriation, property damage, and threats.

Not Her First Controversy

This isn’t the first time Akshara Singh has faced controversy. A few months ago, during a performance in Azamgarh, the crowd turned unruly, forcing the police to resort to lathi-charge. The actress had to abandon the show midway for safety reasons.

In a separate incident, Akshara reportedly received extortion threats demanding ₹50 lakh, along with threats to her life, raising concerns about her security.
