BSUSC Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Last Day to Apply for 3,687 Posts

Today is the closing day for one of Bihar's biggest higher-education recruitment drives this year — applications for 3,687 contractual Assistant Professor posts close at midnight tonight.

Key dates
The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna released the notification (BSUSC/CAP-01 to 06/2026) on July 3, 2026, with applications opening the same day through the Higher Education Department's SAMARTH Portal. The window closes today, July 15, 2026.

Vacancy details
The recruitment covers 3,687 contractual Assistant Professor posts across six subjects — English, Hindi, History, Economics, Political Science and Sociology — spread across ten universities in Bihar, including Patliputra University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, Magadh University and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, among others. The drive also covers 211 newly constituted Rajkiya Degree Colleges. English carries the highest vacancy count at 674 posts, followed by History at 662 and Hindi at 625. An additional 13 backlog posts were notified separately, bringing the overall total to 3,687.

Eligibility
Candidates need a minimum of 55% marks at the Master's degree level (or equivalent grade), with a 5% relaxation available for SC, ST, BC (non-creamy layer) and EBC (non-creamy layer) candidates of Bihar, and a separate 5% relaxation for physically challenged persons of the state — though the two relaxations aren't available together to the same candidate. Candidates must also have qualified NET, unless they hold a PhD earned under UGC's 2009 or 2016 regulations, in which case NET isn't required. The minimum age is 21 years and the maximum is 43 years as on August 1, 2026, with age relaxation for reserved categories as per standard Bihar government norms.

No written exam
Unlike most government recruitment drives, there's no written test involved here. Selection is based entirely on a 100-mark evaluation: 88 marks for academic performance across Matriculation, Intermediate, Graduation, Postgraduate and research qualifications like a PhD or JRF, and 12 marks for an interview-cum-teaching demonstration.

Application fee
There is no application fee for any category of candidate under this recruitment.

Salary
Selected candidates will be paid on a contractual basis, receiving a fixed monthly remuneration equivalent to the minimum gross salary (Basic Pay plus Dearness Allowance) of a regularly appointed entry-level Assistant Professor. As contractual appointees, they won't receive the full pay scale or service benefits available to permanent faculty unless the state government issues further orders extending those benefits.

Before you submit tonight
Applications go through the SAMARTH Portal only — no email or postal submissions are accepted. Candidates still working on their forms should upload their photograph and signature carefully and review every field before final submission, since Bihar recruitment drives typically don't allow post-submission corrections.
