“Management Education Must Integrate Technology, Policy and Long-Term Strategic Thinking”: Sanjeev Sanyal at Yugantar ’26

Yugantar ’26 Concludes at SRCC with Focus on Industry–Policy Synergy in the AI Era.

Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, concluded the second and final day of Yugantar ’26 — the Annual Management Conclave of the Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business Operations (PGDGBO) — with deliberations centred on industry leadership, entrepreneurial resilience, and the policy dimensions of artificial intelligence–driven transformation.

Held at the Shridhar Shriram Auditorium, the Valedictory Session was addressed by Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). The session was hosted by Prof. Simrit Kaur, Principal, SRCC, in the presence of senior faculty members including Dr. Misha Govil, GBO Course Coordinator; Dr. Sapna Bansal, Convener, Yugantar 2026; and Dr. Sunita Sharma, Co-Convener, Yugantar 2026.

Policy Direction and Institutional Alignment

In his address, Mr. Sanyal situated artificial intelligence within India’s broader economic transformation and emphasised the importance of aligning higher education with national growth priorities. He highlighted ongoing structural reforms in sectors such as maritime infrastructure, including shipbuilding, ports, ownership and flagging regulations, and long-term financing mechanisms.

“We are putting significant resources into ports, shipbuilding and ownership frameworks. Over the last twelve months, ownership and flagging rules have been reformed, and banks are being encouraged to extend long-term lending to the sector. While established global leaders will not be replaced overnight, India can emerge as a credible global player over the next five years as the ecosystem strengthens,” he noted.

He underlined that ecosystem development requires demographic strength, regulatory clarity, and sustained institutional commitment.

Risk, Execution and National Capability

Reflecting on his recent maritime voyage demonstrating India’s historic shipbuilding tradition, Mr. Sanyal said the objective was to translate historical narrative into demonstrable capability.

“The purpose was to show that India’s civilisational strength was built by risk-takers — explorers, entrepreneurs and innovators. Think of something ambitious and attempt it seriously; execution creates credibility,” he remarked.

He further emphasised that management graduates must combine technological literacy with policy awareness and long-term strategic thinking in order to operate effectively in an AI-integrated global economy.

Prof. Simrit Kaur remarked on the academic significance of Yugantar ’26 and its positioning within SRCC’s evolving trajectory. She noted that the conclave continues to serve as a platform for dialogue between industry leaders, policymakers and students, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to forward-looking management education.

She also thanked the distinguished guest, faculty members, organising committee and students for their collective efforts in ensuring the successful execution of Yugantar ’26, observing that the event reflected the institution’s academic commitment and collaborative spirit.

The formal proceedings concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Misha Govil, followed by the National Anthem.

Beyond the formal sessions, Day 2 also featured “Groovio: The Ultimate Group Dancing Battle,” underscoring the conclave’s emphasis on holistic engagement and student participation. The competition was judged by Ms. Anastasia Ilyushina, Dr. Ruby Gupta and Dr. Sunita Sharma. The event concluded with a live performance by Jatin Sangri featuring Daniel and Shreyans, bringing the two-day academic and cultural exchange to a close.
