The monsoon continued to bring contrasting weather conditions across several parts of India on Monday, with snowfall reported in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand, floodwaters affecting lakhs of people in Bihar and persistent rain disrupting normal life in parts of Uttar Pradesh.
After Kashmir recorded its first snowfall of the season, light snowfall was reported from high-altitude areas of Uttarakhand, including Panchachuli, Hardeval, Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot in Pithoragarh district. The upper reaches around Badrinath and Hemkund in Chamoli also received snowfall, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures in the higher elevations.
Meanwhile, flooding remained a major concern in Bihar, where rising water levels in the Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, Burhi Gandak, Punpun and Bagmati rivers have affected 22.42 lakh people across 12 districts, according to the figures cited in the source report.

Rajasthan and Punjab see weaker rain activity
Rain activity has eased in Rajasthan after a spell of heavy showers. The weather department forecast rain in seven districts on Monday—Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, Baran and Jhalawar.
The state is expected to see weaker monsoon activity over the following week, with comparatively drier conditions likely in many areas.
In Punjab and Chandigarh, rainfall activity is also expected to decline. However, isolated rain remained possible in parts of 14 Punjab districts on Monday.
Haryana monsoon to remain active
Haryana is expected to continue experiencing monsoon activity through September 12.
According to the India Meteorological Department's Chandigarh office, isolated light to moderate rain is possible between September 7 and 10. Rain activity could increase across several districts again on September 11 and 12.

Himachal likely to see weaker monsoon
Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience relatively weak monsoon activity over the next six days.
