Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court on Monday, September 7, 2026, marking his assumption of the top judicial office in the state.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade administered the oath of office to Justice Agrawal at a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in Jaipur.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas along with other senior government officials. The event marked the formal commencement of Justice Agrawal's tenure as head of the Rajasthan High Court.
The appointment places Justice Agrawal at the helm of the state's highest court, where the Chief Justice oversees the functioning of the High Court and plays a key role in its administrative affairs.
The ceremony was held in the presence of senior officials following the formal appointment of Justice Agrawal to the post. His elevation comes as part of the regular judicial process for appointments to the office of Chief Justice of a High Court.
Justice Agrawal's assumption of office comes at a time when High Courts continue to handle a wide range of constitutional, civil, criminal and administrative matters. As Chief Justice, he will also have administrative responsibilities concerning the functioning of the Rajasthan High Court and its subordinate judicial system.
The Rajasthan High Court, headquartered in Jodhpur with a permanent bench in Jaipur, is the highest court in the state. Its Chief Justice is responsible not only for judicial duties but also for overseeing the administrative functioning of the institution.
With Monday's oath-taking ceremony, Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal has formally taken charge as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
