The petition was filed on Tuesday through Advocate-on-Record Neha Rathi in an ongoing writ petition filed by RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha concerning alleged police excesses during the CJP-led student protests.

Alleges Six-Hour Detention

According to the petition, Malik was returning from RML Hospital on the night of July 24 after receiving an anti-rabies injection when police personnel allegedly detained him.

He claimed he was kept inside a police vehicle for nearly five to six hours, during which officers allegedly questioned him about the funding behind the food distribution for protesters and forcibly accessed his mobile phone.

The petition further alleges that police later abandoned him on Dehradun Road, from where he arranged a cab to return to Delhi.

Family Members Allegedly Targeted

Malik has also alleged that police action extended to his family members.

According to the plea, Ghaziabad Police detained his father and conducted a search at his residence. It further claims that officers visited his married sister's in-laws' home in Meerut and detained her father-in-law and brother-in-law before releasing them later.

Seeks Protection From Supreme Court

In his petition, Malik has requested the Supreme Court to restrain the police from taking any coercive action against him or his family.

He has also sought directions that any investigation, if required, be conducted strictly in accordance with the law and established legal procedures.

Linked to CJP Protest Case

The application forms part of the broader litigation relating to the alleged police action during the July 20 CJP student protest in Delhi, where several petitions have accused security forces of using excessive force against demonstrators.

As of now, the Supreme Court has not issued any notice on Malik's application or indicated when it will be taken up for hearing. Police authorities have also not issued an official response to the allegations made in the petition.
