Political activity gathered pace in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday after Bharatiya Janata Party candidates Tarun Chugh and Rajneesh Agrawal formally filed their nominations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The nomination process took place at the State Assembly in Bhopal in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal and several senior party leaders. Ahead of the filing, BJP legislators held a strategy meeting at the party headquarters to discuss preparations and ensure coordination among MLAs. The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled for June 18, and the BJP leadership has expressed confidence over its prospects in the state. The nominations mark the beginning of an important phase in Madhya Pradesh politics as parties gear up for the Upper House polls.
Before proceeding to the Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and senior BJP leaders offered prayers at the Shiva and Hanuman temples located within the party office premises. Party workers welcomed the candidates with traditional celebrations and drum performances.
Several BJP MLAs accompanied the candidates during the nomination process. Senior legislators were seen interacting outside the Returning Officer's chamber while party leaders projected unity and confidence ahead of the election.
