Congress leader Sachin Pilot participated in a NSUI foot march protesting illegal mining in the Aravalli hills on Friday, marking the political debut of his 14-year-old son, Aran Pilot.
Police halted the "Save Aravalli, Save Future" rally at Government Hostel Square, citing limited permission. Organisers had planned to proceed to the Collectorate, but officers warned of strict action against further movement.
Pilot accused the state government of shielding illegal mining operations across hundreds of sites. "Everyone knows the reality on the ground," he said, criticising affidavits claiming only hills above 100 metres qualify as Aravalli.

He called for serious reflection on the environmental threat, alleging powerful interests enable unchecked extraction.
Led by NSUI Rajasthan president Vinod Jakhar, the march started near Jalupura police station. Workers briefly shifted the stage after Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal objected to its initial placement outside his residence.
Heavy police deployment maintained order as protesters chanted slogans against mining and ecological damage.
Aran's presence drew attention, symbolising generational involvement in the Congress-backed student wing's campaign.

The protest highlights ongoing tensions over Aravalli conservation, where mining bans clash with alleged violations. Environmentalists welcome the visibility, hoping it pressures authorities for stronger enforcement.
As police contained the event, demonstrators vowed continued agitation for the fragile ecosystem's protection.
