The ongoing dispute between the SEIAA Chairman and the Principal Secretary of the Environment Department has now reached Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. A high-level review meeting is expected tomorrow to resolve the conflict and ensure smooth functioning of the environmental clearance body.

The SIA Chairman alleges that without the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, the officers of the Environment Department issued deemed environmental clearance in 450 cases with the approval of the Principal Secretary. Whereas the department does not have the right to give environmental clearance. It is alleged that letters have also been written twice to call a meeting regarding environmental permissions. The meeting should be held in a maximum of 45 days, but not a single meeting was held in 70 days.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the SIA Chairman has written that the SIA has been ignored in the matter of environmental clearance in 450 cases including 200 cases of minerals. The Principal Secretary and APCO Director have illegally issued 237 environmental clearances out of more than 700 pending cases on a pick and choose pattern.

Meanwhile, in the case of the letter written to the Chief Secretary, the SIA Chairman says that the subject has been made known through the letter. The SIA Chairman also alleges that his office was sealed on Monday morning. After objection, the office was opened in the afternoon. He said that I had exposed the corruption in issuing permissions. That is why the office was sealed. Regarding the sealing of the office, Principal Secretary Kothari says that there was an electricity fault, so the room was closed.
