Kailash Vijayvargiya Says Dharmendra Pradhan Offered to Resign on First Day of Protest

Madhya Pradesh minister and senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya on Saturday claimed that former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had offered to resign on the very first day of the protests demanding his resignation, but the party leadership initially declined the offer.
Speaking to reporters, Vijayvargiya said Pradhan had placed his resignation before the BJP president as soon as the agitation began, expressing his willingness to step down if the party considered it necessary.
According to Vijayvargiya, the BJP leadership asked Pradhan to continue at that stage. He claimed that the party later reassessed the situation and accepted the resignation, following which Pradhan stepped down immediately.
Claims of Attempt to Destabilise the Country
Vijayvargiya also alleged that Pradhan's resignation had thwarted attempts by "foreign forces" to create unrest in India.
He claimed that certain external elements wanted to trigger violence and instability in the country on the lines of developments witnessed in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, but said the resignation had neutralised those alleged plans.
The BJP leader further stated that the move prevented attempts to create disorder and praised Pradhan for what he described as a decision taken in the interest of the nation.
No evidence was presented by Vijayvargiya to substantiate the allegation regarding foreign involvement.
Congress Targeted
Vijayvargiya also criticised the Congress, alleging that the opposition party attempted to take political credit for the student-led protests.
He claimed that Congress leaders joined the movement only after it had gained momentum and remarked that the party's role was limited to supporting protests initiated by others.
Using a political analogy, he alleged that Congress leaders celebrated movements without actively participating in them.
Resignation Followed Weeks of Protest
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister after weeks of protests over the alleged irregularities in the NEET paper leak case. The development triggered sharp political reactions from both the ruling BJP and the opposition, with each side presenting contrasting narratives over the reasons and significance of the resignation.
