Twisha Sharma Case: Former Judge’s High Court Bail Hearing Likely on August 12

Giribala Singh’s application was not taken up on Tuesday, while Twisha Sharma’s father has submitted an objection opposing her release.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court is likely to consider former district judge Giribala Singh’s regular-bail application on August 12 in connection with the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma.

The application was expected to come up on Tuesday, August 11, but could not be taken up. Singh, Twisha’s mother-in-law, approached the High Court after a Bhopal court rejected her regular-bail plea on July 25.

Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, has reportedly submitted an objection opposing the application.

Lower Court Rejected Bail

Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh were sent to judicial custody in June. The Central Bureau of Investigation is examining the circumstances surrounding Twisha’s death and the allegations made by her family.

While rejecting Singh’s earlier bail application, the Bhopal court reportedly referred to material gathered during the investigation, including call-detail records, messages, witness statements and electronic evidence.

The court also observed that Singh had held a senior judicial position and that concerns about possible influence over witnesses or the investigation could not be dismissed at that stage.

These observations were made while deciding the bail application and do not constitute a finding of guilt.

What Is the Twisha Sharma Case?

Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Her family subsequently alleged that she had been subjected to dowry-related harassment and mental cruelty.

Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh have denied the allegations. The investigation was later transferred to the CBI amid demands from Twisha’s family for an independent inquiry.

The High Court will consider the defence’s arguments for bail and the objections filed on behalf of Twisha’s family. The case remains under investigation, and none of the allegations should be treated as established until decided by a court.
