Chaumukhi Diya: When and why is the four-faced lamp lit
The four-faced lamp has a special place in Hinduism. Its purpose is to spread equal light in all four directions (east, west, north, south) and spread positive energy, peace and prosperity.
On the auspicious occasions of famous festivals like Diwali, Kartik Purnima, Mahashivratri etc., it is lit during worship in the evening. Apart from this, there is a tradition of lighting a four-faced lamp during Vishnu worship on Devuthani Ekadashi so that there is happiness and peace in the house.
Why is it lit?
Transmission of light in all four directions- It removes inauspiciousness and brings good luck and positive vibes.
