Ganga Dussehra will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5. According to the Panchang, the Dashami date of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month will start at 11:54 pm on June 4 and end at 2:15 pm on June 6. According to the Udayatithi, the festival was celebrated on June 5.

Ganga bath, donation and worship have special significance during Ganga Dussehra. According to the scriptures, devotees take bath in the Ganges river or any other holy water in memory of the descent of Mother Ganga on Ganga Dussehra. This year, on June 5, the main day of Ganga Dussehra, an auspicious coincidence of Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga, Hasta Nakshatra and Siddha Yoga is being formed, which has further increased the importance of the festival.

What should be done on this occasion

On this festival, donating in the name of ancestors, water related items (like pitcher, lota), umbrella, clothes, shoes, seasonal fruits, sattu etc. is considered very pious. It is believed that bathing in the Ganga and donating leads to freedom from sins, relief from disease and grief and attainment of salvation. Devotees for whom bathing in the Ganga is not possible, can take bath at home by mixing Ganga water in the bathing water.
