Bank Holidays in August 2026: Banks to Remain Closed for 14 Days Across India

Banks will remain closed for 14 days in August 2026, including five Sundays, two Saturdays and seven regional holidays. Check the complete bank holiday schedule.

Customers planning bank-related work in August 2026 should check the holiday calendar in advance, as banks will remain closed for 14 days during the month. The closures include five Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, along with seven regional holidays observed in different states and cities.

While physical branches will remain shut on these days, online banking, mobile banking, UPI services and ATMs will continue to function normally, allowing customers to carry out most financial transactions.

Nationwide Weekend Bank Holidays

Banks across India will remain closed on the following weekends:

Second and Fourth Saturdays

  • August 8, 2026 – Second Saturday

  • August 22, 2026 – Fourth Saturday

Sundays

  • August 2, 2026

  • August 9, 2026

  • August 16, 2026

  • August 23, 2026

  • August 30, 2026

Seven Regional Bank Holidays

Apart from the weekly holidays, banks in various states and cities will remain closed for seven additional days due to regional festivals, state-specific celebrations and local observances. These holidays vary from one state to another, and not all bank branches across the country will remain closed on these dates.

Customers are advised to check the holiday schedule applicable to their respective state or city before planning a visit to the bank.

Online Banking Services to Remain Available

Although bank branches will remain closed on holidays, customers can continue to access several banking services through digital channels, including:

  • UPI transactions

  • Internet banking

  • Mobile banking apps

  • ATM cash withdrawals

  • Cash deposits at select ATMs

  • Fund transfers through NEFT, RTGS and IMPS (subject to service availability)

Routine banking services such as cash deposits at branches, cheque clearance and in-person account-related work will be available only on working days.

Plan Banking Work in Advance

Customers with important banking tasks—including cheque deposits, demand drafts, account verification or document submissions—should complete them on working days to avoid inconvenience during the holiday period.
