The public fallout between Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz has taken a fresh turn, with the former couple now trading serious claims over their past relationship, religious differences and alleged mistreatment.
Himanshi has responded to Asim's denial that he ever asked her to change her religion. In a detailed social media statement, she said she never described the situation as “forceful conversion” and argued that the phrase was created by people and the media.
The controversy began after Himanshi discussed her relationship with Asim during a podcast hosted by Paras Chhabra. She spoke about their different religious beliefs and the difficulties she faced while navigating those differences. The couple, who met on Bigg Boss 13 in 2019, ended their relationship in 2023 after nearly four years together. At the time, Himanshi had cited their different religious beliefs as a reason for the breakup.
Asim Riaz denies asking her to convert
Asim subsequently addressed the controversy on social media and categorically denied ever asking anyone to change their religion.
He said religion was a sensitive matter and objected to what he described as an attempt to use it to create a public controversy. His response came after Himanshi's comments about the couple's religious differences went viral.
Asim also indicated that he had material from their past interactions that could be used to respond to the claims, escalating the public exchange between the two.
Himanshi says she has evidence
Himanshi has now taken the dispute a step further. In her response, she said that if the discussion is going to focus on “proof”, she is prepared to present what she described as facts and evidence.
She specifically referred to CCTV footage and recordings, while also mentioning the early morning of November 27, 2023. She linked the alleged evidence to the dispute surrounding religion as well as what she described as violence she experienced during the relationship.
Himanshi also said she had generally tried to maintain dignity while speaking about her personal life, including her Bigg Boss experience, spiritual journey and health-related struggles. She said she decided to respond after she felt that her health issues and personal struggles were being mocked or questioned.
Allegations of violence remain unverified
The latest development has introduced a more serious dimension to the dispute. Himanshi has alleged that she experienced violence during the relationship and says CCTV footage and recordings exist.
However, the alleged footage and recordings have not been publicly produced or independently verified in the reports currently available. The allegations should therefore be treated as claims made by Himanshi, rather than established facts.
Asim's public response has focused primarily on denying that he asked anyone to change their religion.
