Panic spread in Dehradun early in the morning after a face-off took place between police and suspected criminals. According to reports, the suspects allegedly opened fire on a police team that was chasing them after they broke through a barricade in the Nayagaon area. In retaliatory action by the police, one of the accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Following the encounter, police arrested two accused, while three others reportedly escaped by taking advantage of darkness and nearby forest areas. Security and search operations were intensified across the area after the incident.

According to information received, the incident took place during the early morning hours when police teams were carrying out routine checking and surveillance operations. During this time, officials attempted to stop a suspicious car carrying several individuals. However, the occupants allegedly broke through the barricade and sped away. Police immediately launched a chase. After covering some distance, the suspects’ vehicle reached the Nayagaon area, where the situation suddenly escalated.

Preliminary information suggests that the suspects allegedly fired at the police team during the chase. Police responded with retaliatory action. During the exchange, one accused sustained a bullet injury in his leg and collapsed, while another suspect accompanying him was apprehended on the spot. Officials identified the injured accused as Rinku Meena, who is reportedly facing several serious criminal cases, including murder charges.

Following the encounter, additional police personnel were rushed to the scene. The injured accused was shifted to a hospital under security cover for treatment. Police officials stated that both arrested suspects are believed to be residents of Rajasthan, and efforts are underway to gather details about their criminal backgrounds.

According to police, two country-made pistols and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. Some additional materials were also seized from the spot and are currently under examination. Investigators are trying to determine the purpose of their presence in the area and whether they were connected to any other criminal activities.

Local residents reported unusual movement of police vehicles during the early hours of the morning. Some residents also claimed they heard sounds resembling gunfire from a distance. However, police have shared limited information so far, stating that investigations are still underway and multiple aspects of the case are being examined.

A massive search operation was launched after the encounter. Police teams have been deployed in forests, agricultural fields, and possible escape routes, as authorities suspect that the three absconding accused could still be hiding nearby. Checkpoints have been strengthened, and neighboring districts have also been alerted.

Sources suggest that police had been monitoring suspicious activities for some time. However, officials have not confirmed whether the arrested accused were already under surveillance before the incident. Investigators are now questioning the arrested suspects to gather information about the whereabouts of their remaining associates.
