Deputy Collector Booked for Rape, Arrested After Woman Alleges Marriage Fraud
Murena, MP
A major controversy surfaced in Morena on Thursday after Deputy Collector Arvind Mahaur was booked in a rape case and subsequently arrested by Civil Line police following a complaint filed by a woman. The case quickly triggered discussions across administrative circles as allegations emerged that the officer had allegedly maintained a relationship with the woman for a long period after promising marriage and later refused to marry her.
According to police sources, the complainant is a 32-year-old woman from Morena. In her complaint, she stated that she came in contact with Arvind Mahaur through Facebook in early 2025. At that time, Mahaur was reportedly posted as SDM in Sabalgarh. What started as conversations on social media gradually turned into regular interactions and personal meetings. The woman alleged that during this period, the officer assured her of marriage and gained her trust.
The complainant further claimed that on the basis of these assurances, the accused established physical relations with her over nearly a year. Sources familiar with the case said the woman had repeatedly raised the issue of marriage, but the officer allegedly continued postponing the matter. The dispute reportedly escalated recently when he allegedly refused marriage completely. Following this, the woman approached police and submitted a written complaint.
Police officials said that after receiving the complaint, preliminary verification was conducted and a case was registered under relevant sections related to rape and other offences. Soon after registration of the FIR, Civil Line police took the accused officer into custody. Authorities said further questioning is underway and additional evidence is being examined.
The development created a stir across Morena since the accused is serving on a senior administrative post. Since morning, discussions around the case continued in government offices and public spaces. Officials indicated that investigators may also examine digital evidence, communication records, and other materials as part of the investigation.
The case has once again sparked conversations around relationships formed through social media platforms and disputes arising from alleged promises of marriage. Investigators are now trying to establish the sequence of events and circumstances under which the relationship developed and later turned into a legal dispute.
Police maintained that the investigation is still in progress and every aspect of the allegations is being examined. By late evening, detailed statements from senior administrative authorities had not been released. For now, the arrest of a serving Deputy Collector has turned the case into one of the most discussed developments in Morena, with further details expected to emerge as the investigation moves forward.
