A shocking case of domestic violence has surfaced from Gwalior, raising serious questions over relationships, trust and human behavior. A constable posted with the 13th Battalion has been accused of tying up his wife, assaulting her brutally and burning her multiple times with a hot clothes iron inside their government residence. The woman, who suffered serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment in hospital, while the accused husband has been arrested. The incident, allegedly triggered by suspicion over the woman’s character, has created outrage in the area.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place late at night inside the government housing complex of the 13th Battalion. Sources and local residents say that the accused constable, identified as Rajendra Parihar, had reportedly been suspicious of his wife Pooja Parihar’s character for a long time. People familiar with the matter claimed that arguments between the couple over the issue were frequent. It is also being said that the husband often monitored her movements and objected to her stepping outside.
On the night of the incident, the woman had reportedly gone outside for a short walk after dinner. When she returned, her husband allegedly started questioning her. What began as an argument soon escalated into violence. According to the complaint filed with police, the accused first assaulted his wife physically and later tied her hands and legs. She was allegedly thrown to the ground and beaten severely.
Police complaint details further claim that the accused then used a hot iron press to burn different parts of her body. It is being reported that the woman suffered around seven burn injuries on her body. During the assault, she allegedly kept screaming for help. People living nearby reportedly heard the noise and sensed something was wrong, but by then the woman had already suffered serious injuries.
After the incident, the injured woman was first taken to her parental family and later shifted to hospital. Hospital sources say a significant portion of her body suffered burn injuries and doctors are continuing treatment while monitoring her condition. It is also being said that the woman remains under severe emotional trauma.
A disturbing video linked to the incident has also surfaced after the assault, showing the woman in an injured condition. Burn marks and visible pain can reportedly be seen in the footage. However, police officials have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the video. Local sources claim the clip is being widely circulated on social media.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, police registered a case and began investigation. Officials said action was taken based on the victim’s complaint and multiple charges have been registered against the accused constable. Police have already arrested him and questioning is currently underway.
Residents living in the government housing complex said the incident has left many shocked. Several locals said domestic disputes are common, but the level of brutality alleged in this case was difficult to imagine. Discussions around the incident continued throughout the day in the locality. Some residents also claimed that had neighbors not become alert, the situation could have turned even worse.
