Madhya Pradesh Voter List Verification Begins: Key Dates, Documents, and Process Explained
Digital Desk
The Election Commission of India has launched a major voter list cleanup drive in Madhya Pradesh. Starting today, October 28, 2025, a 103-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is underway to verify and update the electoral rolls, ensuring a transparent and accurate list for future elections.
What is the SIR Process?
The SIR is a door-to-door verification drive conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). From November 4 to December 4, 2025, BLOs will visit households to cross-check voter details. The goal is to add eligible voters, remove duplicates or deceased individuals, and correct errors in names and addresses.
How to Get Verified and Key Documents
When a BLO visits, they will provide an enumeration form with pre-filled details. Voters must verify this information. If a name is missing, a new application form must be submitted along with one of the 11 acceptable documents for proof of identity and address.
These include:
Aadhaar Card
Passport
PAN Card
Driving License
Ration Card
Utility Bill (Electricity, Water, Gas)
Bank Passbook
Important Highlights for Voters
Not at Home? A family member can complete the verification. BLOs will attempt up to three visits.
Duplicate Entries? Voters must sign a declaration confirming their name is in only one constituency to avoid penal action.
New Voters? Newly married women or those who have moved can register using Form 8. First-time voters who turned 18 can use Form 6.
Online Option: Voters can start the process online via the Election Commission's portal, after which a BLO will visit for physical verification.
The final revised voter list will be published on February 7, 2026. This extensive exercise aims to strengthen the democratic process by ensuring every legitimate vote counts.
