BJP Leader Counters Raj Thackeray: "Hindi Is Our Mother, Marathi Is Ours

BJP Leader Counters Raj Thackeray:

Amid escalating debates over the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra's education system, a BJP leader has responded to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's strong opposition by stating, "Hindi is our mother, and Marathi is ours." This remark comes in light of the state's decision to make Hindi a compulsory third language from Classes 1 to 5, a move that has been met with resistance from regional parties like the MNS and the Uddhav Sena, who argue it undermines the prominence of Marathi. The BJP defends the policy, emphasizing the need for a common communicative language while maintaining Marathi's compulsory status in the curriculum.

On the occasion of Maharashtra and Gujarat Day, enthusiastic celebrations were organized in both the states. In the context of Maharashtra Day, the North Indian Association organized a special program in which sewing machines were provided to needy women. This initiative is considered an important step towards the economic empowerment of women. The program began with an address in Marathi language by the organizers and North Indian leaders. President of the North Indian Association Santosh RN Singh said that their aim is not only to provide assistance, but to ensure self-reliance with respect. This event is proof that the North Indian society considers Maharashtra not only a means of employment, but also as its karmabhoomi.

BJP leader Kripashankar Singh took a jibe at MNS chief Raj Thackeray without naming anyone during a program. He said, "Hindi majhi aayi, Marathi majhi mavshi. That is, Hindi is our mother and Marathi is our aunt. Some people try to create differences between Marathi and non-Marathi at the time of elections. When their political position is weak, they resort to the language issue.

'Children of those who promote Marathi study in English'

Kripashankar Singh made this remark that those who talk about Marathi identity, their own children often get education in English medium. He described the North Indian community as an equal partner in the development of Maharashtra and said that this society is not only workers but also dedicated citizens contributing to the progress of the state.

We are Hindus, but not Hindi - Raj Thackeray

The BJP-led Mahayuti government of Maharashtra had decided to make Hindi a compulsory third language in primary schools under the new education policy, which had to be withdrawn due to widespread opposition. This issue was also raised prominently by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), where Raj Thackeray made it clear that he would not promote any language other than Marathi and would promote Hindi. We will oppose the imposition of English. In response, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, without naming anyone, said that while English is promoted, Indian languages like Hindi are opposed.

'Maharashtra is a karmabhoomi'

The North Indian community has played an important role in the development of Maharashtra and it is a group of dedicated citizens who have contributed to the creation of the state. Santosh Singh, President of the North Indian Association, also clarified that the North Indian community sees Maharashtra not only as a place of employment but also as their karmabhoomi.
