CM Rekha Gupta Launches Underground Power Project

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inaugurates pilot project for underground electricity network; assures complete removal of overhead wires for a safer, cleaner city.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today inaugurated several development projects in her assembly constituency Shalimar Bagh. These include a pilot project, which focuses on converting overhead wires into underground electricity network. This work was inaugurated in the Janta Flats area, where Delhi Minister Ashish Sood was also present.

CM Rekha Gupta told the media that the aim of the government is to free the capital from overhead wires. She said that the plan to underground the overhead wires is a pilot project for Delhi, which is part of a long-term vision. Through this project, the government is trying to provide new facilities to the people of Delhi. He believes that in future no wire will be visible in Delhi.

He said that the question always arose that why there is so much network of overhead wires and why they cannot be made underground. There is always a danger of sparks in narrow and crowded streets. This is an important step for Delhi, for which we have made a provision of Rs 100 crore in the budget. He also said that the streets here are so narrow that even two scooters cannot run together, but now people will be able to see the blue sky by looking up.

Efforts to make Delhi free from wires

Minister Ashish Sood said that the government is making efforts to strengthen Delhi's power infrastructure and reduce the dangers posed by overhead wires. He said that work is being done to make Delhi free from wires under the leadership of the Chief Minister. Sood also mentioned that the Delhi government did not have any funds for capital expenditure, but we are gradually moving in this direction. With the support of the people of Delhi, we will be able to take this work forward.

Chief Minister Gupta expressed concern over the waterlogging situation in various areas of the city after heavy rains on Thursday. He directed the officials of the concerned department to take effective measures to prevent the problem of waterlogging, so that Delhiites do not face any kind of difficulty during the monsoon.

The Chief Minister said in a statement that this time there was no waterlogging at Minto Road and ITO intersection despite heavy rains, which he expressed satisfaction over. He directed the officials that they have to display similar efficiency throughout Delhi. To address the problems of waterlogging, Chief Minister Gupta called a special meeting with Public Works Minister Pravesh Verma, which included top officials of the Public Works Department, Irrigation-Flood Control Department and departments related to waterlogging. He made it clear that any kind of negligence in cases of waterlogging will not be tolerated.

Chief Minister Gupta said that the officials need to take quick and effective measures during the rains so that the problems arising from waterlogging can be controlled in time. He directed to conduct quick and regular checks of the drains located on the roadside, so that the drainage of water can be ensured and the situation of waterlogging on the road ends.
