Iran Rules Out Direct US Talks, Says Hormuz Agreement With Oman Near

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said Tehran will not resume direct negotiations with the United States while Washington remains, in Iran’s view, in breach of an interim agreement reached in June.
Araqchi said communication was continuing through intermediaries. He added that a separate Iran-Oman arrangement concerning shipping through thewas approaching completion.
However, the proposed arrangement alone would not result in the complete reopening of the strategically important waterway. Shipping through Hormuz has remained severely disrupted amid the continuing regional conflict.
