SUV Catches Fire in Motion in Gwalior; Driver Saves Family Moments Before Blaze Gutted Car

A major accident was narrowly averted in Gwalior on Sunday afternoon when a moving SUV suddenly caught fire near the Signal Tiraha, close to the Gola Ka Mandir area.

A family was inside the car at the time, but the driver’s quick thinking saved all occupants — including women and children — from harm.

The fire brigade reached the scene promptly and managed to extinguish the flames, but by then the vehicle had been completely destroyed. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

Flames Engulf Car on Kalpi Bridge Road

According to police, the incident occurred on Kalpi Bridge Road under the Gola Ka Mandir police station limits. The family was traveling from Murar No. 7 Square toward Bhind Road to attend a wedding ceremony when the car’s bonnet suddenly began emitting smoke and flames near the Signal Tiraha.

Within seconds, the fire spread to the front portion of the vehicle. The driver immediately stopped the car, opened all the doors, and safely evacuated everyone inside before the flames intensified.

Fire Brigade Brings Blaze Under Control

Passersby rushed to help and alerted the police and fire department. Soon, a fire tender arrived, and officials cordoned off the area for safety. The team used water jets to control the blaze, but the SUV was already reduced to ashes.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire might have been caused by engine overheating or a short circuit in the wiring. The burnt vehicle has been moved to the roadside for inspection as officials continue to probe the incident.
