The Mother Gave the King a Dream
According to another legend, King Chandrahas of Sambalpur was hunting in the forest. He began chasing an animal. During this, he went deep into the forest. As soon as King Chandrahas raised his bow to kill the animal, the animal assumed the form of a goddess and disappeared. That very night, the goddess appeared in the king's dream and told him, "King, build my temple here and increase your fame."
According to legend, King Chandrahas, following the goddess's orders, built the Maa Chandrahasini temple on a hill on the banks of the Mahanadi.
